Terms & Conditions of Rental


Reservations: All reservations are made by category and not by specific model. In case of unavailability of a confirmed reservation, Viden reserves the right to provide the customer with a car of a higher category at no extra charge to the customer.

Online Reservations: Vehicle reservations are strictly personal and the vehicle can be picked up only by the individual who made the reservation. Upon pickup, the renter is required to present a valid ID or passport along with a valid driver’s license, both matching the name on the reservation. Pickup by a third party is not allowed, even if authorization documents or other supporting paperwork are presented. In such cases, the company reserves the right to deny delivery of the vehicle without any refund obligation.

Driver: Minimum age limit is 23 years, and the maximum age limit is 74 years.

National ID or Passport: The presentation of a valid National ID or Passport document is required. Photocopies or photographs are not accepted

Driver’s License: The presentation of a valid driver’s license for Greece and the EU, issued at least two years before the rental start date, is required. Citizens of countries outside the EU must hold a driver’s license valid in both Greece and the European Union, or alternatively, an international driver’s license, which they must present along with their valid home-country driver’s license.
If the licence is not in English, you must also present an International Driving Permit or a suitable certified translation. Photocopies or photographs are not accepted.

Security deposit: The primary driver must have a Mastercard or Visa credit card in their name for vehicle pick-up. Prepaid, rechargeable, digital/virtual credit cards, cards from online banks, cash, or any card without embossed characters are not accepted. Cards must be valid for at least six months from the time they are presented at the pick-up location.

We preautherize as a security deposit:

€250,00. for categories MBMR, MDMR, MBAR, ECMR, EDMR, ECAR, EDAR, CDMR, CDAR, SKMR, IDMR, IDAR, FKMR.

€390,00. for categories CMMR, CGMR, CGAR.

€500,00 for categories SGMR, SGAR.

Grace Period:You must be at the rental counter by your pick-up time: if you’re late, the car may no longer be available, and you won’t be entitled to a refund. If you think you might be late, it’s vital that you contact us at least 30 minutes before your pick-up time, even if it’s because of a flight delay and you’ve provided your flight number.

In case of delay, reservations will be held for 59 minutes from the specified reservation time, after which they will be classed as a no-show.

Fines – Penalties: The renter is responsible for any fines and penalties resulting from Traffic Code violations. Additionally, the renter is liable for any associated administrative costs

Cancellations: The cancellation of a reservation must be made at least forty eight (48) hours before the scheduled date and time of rental commencement according to the reservation made on this booking engine. If you wish to cancel a reservation, the only accepted method is through the Viden Rent a Car website. For reservations made without creating an account, (as quest) you will have to contact the reservations department at reservation@viden.gr .

  • If a cancellation notice is received by Viden Rent a Car at least forty eight (48) hours before the scheduled rental commencement date and time, any amount paid in advance will be refunded.
  • If the payment of any amount was made via card (credit or debit), the refund may take up to 14 days depending on the bank associated with the card you used during booking.
  • If a cancellation notice is received by Viden Rent a Car less than forty eight (48) hours before the scheduled rental commencement date, no amount paid in advance will be refunded.

Deliveries – Pick-ups outside operating hours: Surcharge €25 + VAT. For reservations where the ‘pay on desk’ payment method has been selected, a deposit is required for the reservation to be considered valid. Our reservations department will contact you in order to arrange the payment of the deposit and finalize your booking. In case we are unable to reach you or the deposit is not paid, the reservation will be automatically canceled.

Additional Driver: The charge for each additional driver is determined according to the pricing of the specific period.

Child Seat: The charge for a child seat is set at €6/day, upon customer request and depending on company availability, with a maximum charge of €60/rental.

Snow Chains: The charge for snow chains is set at €7/day, upon customer request and depending on company availability, with a maximum charge of €56/rental.

Fuel: The renter must return the car with the same amount of fuel as received. If the car is returned with less fuel than initially provided, the customer will be charged for the fuel difference plus refueling service. No compensation is provided if the car is returned with more fuel than received. Vehicles are delivered with a minimum fuel level equivalent to ¼ of the tank.

Mileage: For rentals lasting 4 to 20 days, unlimited mileage is provided. For rentals shorter than 4 days or longer than 20 days, prices include mileage restrictions. In this case, if the renter wishes for unlimited mileage, they may choose the unlimited mileage package at an additional charge as per the price list. Otherwise, any additional kilometers above the limited mileage will incur a charge of €0.12 + VAT per kilometer at the time of vehicle return.

Accident: In the event of an accident, the customer will be charged €31 for accident file processing fees, regardless of fault or insurance coverage.

CDW – Collision Damage Waiver: The renter is fully relieved of responsibility for any car damage:

  • Above €1240 + VAT if they accept and sign the company’s related contract terms for categories MBMR, MDMR, MBAR, ECMR, EDMR, ECAR, EDAR, CDMR, CDAR, SKMR.
  • Above €1860 + VAT if they accept and sign the company’s related contract terms for categories IDMR, IDAR, CMMR, CGMR, SGMR, SGAR, FKMR.

A necessary condition for liability relief is that the damage is not proven to result from a violation of the Traffic Code.

SCDW – Super Collision Damage Waiver: The renter is fully relieved of responsibility for any car damage:

  • Above €620 + VAT if they accept and sign the company’s related contract terms and pay €8 extra per rental day for categories MBMR, MDMR, MBAR, ECMR, EDMR, ECAR, EDAR, CDMR, CDAR, SKMR.
  • Above €930 + VAT if they accept and sign the company’s related contract terms and pay €10 extra per rental day for categories IDMR, IDAR, CMMR, CGMR, SGMR, SGAR, FKMR.

SPCDW – Full Collision Damage Waiver: The renter is fully relieved of responsibility for any car damage if they accept and sign the company’s related contract terms and pay:

  • €21 extra per rental day for categories MBMR, MDMR, MBAR, ECMR, EDMR, ECAR, EDAR, CDMR, CDAR, SKMR.
  • €23 extra per rental day for categories IDMR, IDAR, CMMR, CGMR, SGMR, SGAR, FKMR.

No insurance covers damage to the vehicle’s interior, glass, underside, or tires.

WWI – Tyres and Glass Insurance: The renter is fully relieved of responsibility for any damage to the vehicle’s tires and glass only if they accept and sign the company’s related contract terms and pay:

  • €5/day for categories MBMR, MDMR, MBAR, ECMR, EDMR, ECAR, EDAR, CDMR, CDAR, SKMR.
  • €6/day for categories IDMR, IDAR, CMMR, CGMR, SGMR, SGAR, FKMR

THW – Theft Waiver: The renter is fully relieved of responsibility in case of car theft:

  • Above €1240 + VAT if they accept and sign the company’s related contract terms for categories MBMR, MDMR, MBAR, ECMR, EDMR, ECAR, EDAR, CDMR, CDAR, SKMR.
  • Above €1860 + VAT if they accept and sign the company’s related contract terms for categories IDMR, IDAR, CMMR, CGMR, SGMR, SGAR, FKMR.

STHW – Super Theft Waiver: The renter is fully relieved of responsibility in case of car theft if they accept and sign the company’s related contract terms and pay:

  • €8 extra per rental day for categories MBMR, MDMR, MBAR, ECMR, EDMR, ECAR, EDAR, CDMR, CDAR, SKMR.
  • €10 extra per rental day for categories IDMR, IDAR, CMMR, CGMR, SGMR, SGAR, FKMR.

SPTHW – Full Theft Waiver: The renter is fully relieved of responsibility in case of car theft if they accept and sign the company’s related contract terms and pay:

  • €19 extra per rental day for categories MBMR, MDMR, MBAR, ECMR, EDMR, ECAR, EDAR, CDMR, CDAR, SKMR.
  • €21 extra per rental day for categories IDMR, IDAR, CMMR, CGMR, SGMR, SGAR, FKMR.

Roadside Assistance: Viden Rent a Car vehicles are covered by 24-hour roadside assistance. The roadside assistance contact details are listed in the rental agreement.
If vehicle replacement is deemed necessary, it may take up to 48 hours for areas within Attica, while for other regions within Greece, up to 72 hours may be required.

If it is proven that replacement was ultimately unnecessary, the renter will bear the transportation costs.

Cross-border Vehicle Transport: Transporting or driving the car outside the borders of Greece is prohibited.

Vehicle Transport by Ferry: Written approval from the company is required for vehicle transport by ferry
